Be My Dada - Willow Tree Tipi

A song about a chosen lifestyle. Dada is the art world of Marcel Duchamp. In the 1910 Armory Show he changed the whole concept of art in modern times with his work in abstract painting and his "readymades" sculptures and movies. Dada is nearly indescribable but dada is a way of looking at things.

Flowering Dada Preview

A short view of a 40 minute flower and assorted plant life show. This one is of course, a little messed up with YouTube resolution etc. The long DVD version is a good background for a quiet time. Flowering Dada is just the thing for a little smooth something but not too much. Just enough to relax and drift away.

Milkmaid in a Nasturtium Bloom

A milk-maid in the heart of a nasturtium flower.
What modern art master could surpass this?
Artists are reflecting the perfections of pure form and light.
Another of what Marcel Duchamp called a "ready-made", this one found in nature.
Dada is the art that is everywhere.

Green Architecture at MandRand

Winter and Spring views of the willow tepee.
Click on the images for a larger view.

SPRINGTIME TEPEE
The willow cuttings grew roots and the Tepee leafed out into a living house. Morning Glories and Nastursiums
grow and complete the cover

WINTER TIME TEPEE
Just a pile of willow sticks that could be later covered with something for shade.
But surprise..........It covered it's self with the perfect fabric.....Leaves.

Tipi....Tepee....Teepee...It seems that all these ways of spelling it are used frequently so you pick your favorite.

Elephants on the Moon

We self published 9 of our songs on an Audio CD.
All of the parts are hand-made here at the basement studio of MandRand Band.
Most of these are on Youtube or here on the blog.
Just scroll down or click on the "Blog Archive" on the side there.
(New note; Now it's August 4 and there are about 40 copies of the
CD behind sofa cushions, under car-seats and lost in piles of digital debris.)

Women in the Creek

These women were found to be in the winter low
water river between the rises.
Ready-mades.
Ready-made by the pounding floodwater
and stone of the San Lorenzo. A Madrone's giant root
and a rusted, river beaten water tank.
They have moved on toward the ocean
with the endless motion of water .
These are un-retouched photos.

Tone.....

Mandolin via Garageband mic sounds almost like coconuts. Garagedam is like another instrument in a way, what with all it does to your stuff.
It's the 21st century no doubt.
Like a 1958
DanElectro/Silvertone Sears and Roebuck Guitar w/aAmplifier-in-a-case. It's got that funky tone found in garages.

So, if you want to be in the garage,
it's ok in there.
This guitar was photographed at the
Felix Kulpa Gallery in Santa Cruz.
Made by Robbie Shoen, it's one of
a series of playable guitars he's made.
Dada and Garage Band all in one.
It's got tone.

Marcel Duchamp's Fountain

Dada is Art
Dada is ???????

No real history of Dadaism is
meant to be here, on this blog.
However, this "Ready Made" is called by some,
"the most influential piece of art of the 20th century".
With this, and the bicycle wheel on a stool, Duchamp
excited and insulted and inspired and depressed
the established art world.
His work, especially this urinal, caused arguements and disent among
"The Independents", his own group.
Every move Duchamp made up-set the artistic
apple cart.
He opened the first doors to all kinds of artistic
wackiness that we love and hate to this day.
